Mari Carmen Martos Contreras studied Biological Sciences at the University of Granada in Spain, where she could learn about basic and applied biological sciences and develop her lab skills. During her Bachelor work she focused on Machine Learning applying different explainable artificial intelligence (exAI) algorithms for biological databases. She continued her studies at Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain to do Msc in Bioinformatics, where she could specialize in the interdisciplinary field of Computational Biology and acquiring knowledge in Genomics, Proteomics and High Performance Computer analysis. She has investigated different immunological responses in relation with disease progression, through the development of workflows for the data analysis of different NGS samples, such as RNA and single cell RNA sequencing, in the translational institute at Technique University of Munich in Germany. Her main interest is to analyse in a computational way Biological data and to develop AI tools for the disease prediction. As part of PMCR she is involved in multiple projects as bioinformatician and biologist, where she defines the workflow for the treatment in silico selection through multi-omics data analysis and is developing AI algorithms.
